As Lincoln students approach the end of October, what are their takes on which costumes are a trick, and which are a treat? We’ve all seen many Halloween costumes over the fall seasons, but Lincoln students have something to say about what they’re tired of seeing, and what they’re hoping someone will wear.
Jonah Pardajay (‘26) and Evan Carr (‘26) say they’ve seen enough of the typical Inflatable T-rex suit, skeletons and vampires, and want to see more costumes like The Lorax, and duo costumes like a Chicken and an Egg.
Cash Chrismer (‘26) and Yonas Syie (‘27) agreed that they lack interest in the same old repetitive costumes this year. Specifically, they’ve had enough basic “cops and robbers” outfits. They think people should be more creative this year and leave those common worn-out ideas at home.
Senior Olaf Barradas offers a different perspective, saying he would rather see fun, easy-to-spot pop culture costumes instead. Barradas gave an example, saying “I’d like to see outfits like Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story,” choosing well known characters over the old, simple costume ideas.
Even the teachers feel that certain costume choices have run their course! Ms. Cassidy wants to see an end to store bought-basic foam costumes like a giant taco. She encourages others to focus on more creative group costumes instead.
Another teacher, Ms. Davidson, has a different view. She’s done “seeing everyone dressed up as Taylor Swift” and would much rather see “funny, unexpected costumes” this fall, shifting away from trendy celebrity looks.
The students and teachers at Lincoln have the right idea: Halloween is the perfect opportunity to ditch the mass-produced, predictable outfits and show off some true creativity. While the classics will always have a place in our hearts, seeing people embrace unique themes, clever puns, or obscure references is far more entertaining and speaks to the spirit of the holiday. Let’s hope us Lynx take this article to heart and deliver a truly memorable Halloween!
So, Lynx, in hope for an excellent year, which costumes do you think are a trick, and which are a treat for this 2025 fall season?
