While the Lincoln Lynx football team got off to a rough start, losing to both Mercer Island and Lakeside, hopes are still high after getting much needed wins over Franklin and Nathan Hale. Let’s take a deeper look into some of our players’ minds as the season progresses. We asked Football captain Matteus Alin (‘26), who caught an early season ankle injury, how he plans to stay motivated and support his fellow teammates from the sideline. In response Alin states, “I stay motivated by putting in all the work I can every day, even though I’m injured, I know that I’ll be back soon.” “I keep my teammates motivated by hyping them up at practice, going every practice, and especially encouraging all the players who are playing for me while I’m hurt and making sure, they’re being the best they can be.”
We asked one of our other football Captains Avery Jones (’26), how do you prepare mentally and stay focused during gametime? Mind you, Avery Plays on both sides of the ball, as a defensive linebacker and a running back on the offensive side. Jones replies, “Starts when I wake up with my breakfast, got to stay fueled up for the big day, then after that it’s as simple as staying in my classes and getting my work done.” And that will do it for your October Lincoln Lynx football insider. Giving you a sneak peek into 2 out of our 4 Lincoln captains’ minds, truly showing the steps they take to stay locked in and support their teammates as they push for this year’s playoffs!
