Transferring to Lincoln

Tri Tran, Staff Reporter

My first time at Lincoln wasn’t as memorable as I would have liked.

I transferred to Lincoln High School at the beginning of my Junior year, and I didn’t have any friends or have any connection to anyone from Lincoln, so I was having a difficult time in school.

During first semester I wasn’t doing too good because everything at Lincoln was so new to me compared to Lynnwood High, my old school. It’s different because both schools have a different school district.

For example, at Lincoln we used One Note and Schoology for schoolwork, homework and grading, but at Lynnwood, we used Canvas for everything like grading, testing, schoolwork and homework. This was pretty new to me and I was having a hard time trying to adjust to this.

Lincoln and Lynnwood also have a different starting time. At Lincoln we start at 8:50 and we get out at 3:40 and we have short days on Wednesday. During my Junior year, there was also block days on Thursday and Friday and they didn’t have that at Lynnwood.

Their start time was different too. They started at 7:20 and got out at 1:50 and they don’t have short days on Wednesday and they also don’t have blocks days on Thursday and Friday.

Besides the starting time and the whole system being different, everything else wasn’t too bad. Second semester came around and I was starting to pick things up. I started to catch up on the school system and getting stuff done and got way more comfortable finding my way around the school, and next thing you know, the school year is about to be over and I’m going into my final year of high school.

I graduate on Friday, June 23.
