Fall is here and as the school year is kicking off, students are switching their playlists to match the dropping temperature. I interviewed Lincoln students on the music they’ve been listening to recently during this fall and here is what they had to say.
Cora Telzrow (10) chose the song “So High School” by Taylor Swift, because she said it reminded her of our football games. Having gone to an all-girls school prior to transferring to Lincoln this year, she said, “I never got to root for my own schools’ team, because my old school didn’t have one, so the football games are a really fun and new experience for me.”
Taylor Swift is a popular choice this year, with two students, Josie Skoog (10) and Daphne Maussenet (10) choosing her song, “Illicit Affairs”. “I’ve been listening to it a lot recently, it reminds me of fall,” Skoog shared. The song’s sad vibe fits the fall mood and captures the cozy, nostalgic feeling of the season.
Emma Alvarez (11) chose a more upbeat song that gets her hyped for basketball, “Young Metro” by Metro Boomin and Future. “They’re definitely one of the best hip hop duos of this generation,” she claimed. Alvarez was not the only person who chose a song that got them pumped up for their sport. Wynn Coyle (10) chose the song “On One Tonight” by Gunna. “It’s my pregame hype song. It’s tuff,” Coyle said.
Lulu Choder (12) also chose a song that she associates with her sport, cheer, but not one that she listens to get hype. Instead, she chose the song “One Dance” by Drake. She said that her and her cheer team would sing this song on the bus while on the way to a football game. “It gets everyone really excited for the games.”
From Taylor Swift to pregame hip hop songs, make sure to add these jams to your playlist!
