This could be the year of stripes, layering, miniskirts, and trench coats. Or perhaps we’ll see a resurgence of the 2010s or 70s fashion. At least that’s what the runway is telling us.
Let’s take a closer look at our own personal runway: the hallways. From students’ “Ins and Outs” to Lincoln style icons, here’s what Lincoln style looks like to start off 2025.
Baggy clothes are everywhere. When asked what trends Lynx are wearing, hoodies, sweatpants, and baggy clothes were the top choice. Sophomore Patbua Loung describes what trends he sees at Lincoln saying, “Hoodies, that’s basically it.”
Freshman Kye Dowell elaborates, “Not like a stereotype, but super baggy pants and a beanie is skater style… fashion trends I like are mixing skinny jeans with really nice shoes, like fresh Jordans. I like ripped pants, but not looking messy.”
Luna Beardsley-Lewis (’26) says, “I see a lot of like Stockholm style, with the dark blues, Ralph Lauren and Brandy. Comfy wear, sweatpants and baggy clothes. Could be because we’re in the PNW.”
Plush and cozy clothes are a popular option to keep us warm during the long dark winter days in Seattle, but what type of shoes are Lincoln students wearing? “Uggs, so many Uggs,” answered sophomore Astrid Watson. Senior Enza Fammartino agrees with that sentiment adding, “I love an Ugg if they’re styled properly.” Beardsley-Lewis(’26), on the other hand, is over the Sambas trend.
Another trend Fammartino shouted out another trend she sees taking over Lincoln, “Chunky jewelry. I see you, I love you.” Many students agree, saying chunky jewelry and jewelry stacking is in for 2025.
Other “Ins” are 2010s styles, like skinny jeans and high boots, according to juniors Yuli Basinski and Luna Beardsly-Lewis. Waston (’27) agrees to an extent, claiming that “anklets should be back in. Can we bring them back?” Although these trends haven’t made a large resurgence in the halls yet, they have been all over the internet and even on the runways.
Sophomore Amelia Wright adds her own opinion, saying “In: super low rise…out: high waisted jeans” whereas 9th grader Lexi Soge says, “Jeans are out and cargo pants are in.”
Strong fashion opinions don’t stop there. “Jorts are being left behind,” says junior Reed Cole. Another trend some Lynx don’t want to see anymore include “Super-cropped tops”, at least according to Ella MacGregor (’27).
All these style opinions aside, as Enza Fammartino (’25) says, “Honestly, when I see someone expressing themselves and wearing what they want that’s the best. I love it. WORK.” Junior Erica Roder agrees, remarking that “Everyone’s equally amazing,” when asked about who has the best style at Lincoln.
Whether you follow these trends or not, just make sure you wear what makes you comfortable during the long cold school days
