Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the final Mayer’s Players fantasy draft of the year. Through copious research, interviews, statistical analysis, and survey we have assembled spring athletes. We have reached an ultimate consensus by hand selecting some of the top athletes in the school from our quantitative and qualitative analysis.
To spotlight that, our esteemed Lincoln Log sports writers Theo (‘25), Josiah (‘26), Naomi (‘26), and Lily (‘27) will select for their Lincoln sports fantasy team. The format of the draft is a four round snake draft. We’ll keep the readers updated on how each fantasy team does, and how each player scores individually. The 2025 players are as follows:
1.01 Najla (Girls Tennis): Dominating the metro league once again, Najla is very likely to make a big state run. Already making a name for herself as a freshman by winning the entire metro league for singles, this sophomore is set to have another incredibly successful tennis season.
1.02 Roan (Track): This sprinter is quite possibly the most decorated athlete currently attending Lincoln. With his titles as a 5 time state qualifier, D1 Colombia commitment, 4 time national qualifier, and a junior Olympic all American, it’s safe to say that he is a valuable fantasy pickup this spring season.
1.03 William (Soccer): A junior phenom, leading the team from the midfield and unanimously voted the best on Lincoln Soccer, William is the beating heart of the team. With his constant goal scoring threat along with his stellar defense, he easily deserves this draft spot.
1.04 Caleb (Track): Caleb is the goat of the 800 meter race, and runs a fantastic 400 meter, mile, and 2 mile runner, making him an all-around athlete. He is possibly the most underrated Lincoln athlete, and deserves more recognition in these halls.
2.01 JJ (Track): The 400 meter record holder at Lincoln and a core part of many sprints relays, it would be a crime to not include JJ in this draft. His football skills are attributed to his work here on the track team where he dominates, and gaps his competition, even when dressed as batman.
2.02 Hugh (Boy’s Lacrosse): Another player unanimously voted as the best on his team, Hugh’s speed and athleticism allows him to score whenever he pleases.
2.03 Charlie (Baseball): The ace of the Lincoln baseball team, the second team all-metro selection is set to have his most successful season, with a nasty change up that has opponents shaking in their cleats.
2.04 Nalyn (Soccer): This 4-year varsity player and team captain is undisputedly a player to watch this coming soccer season. Many fans last year claimed he was “washed” after putting up significantly less goals and assists than the previous season, though he is predicted to be the leader in assists this year in a strong bounce back season.
3.01 Ash (Girl’s Lacrosse): The star of girl’s Lacrosse, she is a fantastic goal scorer, and was unanimously voted the best on the team. Besides her fantastic skills, she is also a captain and a “fantastic teammate to play with”.
3.02 Lou (Ultimate): A young talent from the frisbee team, Lou’s ability to use the athleticism from the various sports she plays is an extreme asset for dominating at frisbee this year. She possesses a significant deep threat in the girl’s frisbee offense, and is an incredibly viable fantasy pickup this year.
3.03 Carter Harrison (Tennis): A seasoned captain from the boys tennis team, this veteran varsity player will dominate this season, with one year of singles experience under his belt, and a tremendous improvement in the offseason.
3.04 Cleo (Track): Cleo is the strongest girls distance runner is set for another monumental season after an extremely strong cross country season.
4.01 Tate (Baseball): A consistent and fundamental hitter and fielder, he has proven his worth to the team time and time again. Many teammates project him to have the highest batting average this year, and he will clearly be one of the stars of the team.
4.02 Matthew (Soccer): Another senior talent from the soccer team, this shifty midfielder has a deep bag and crazy dribbles. His defending skills are not his strong point, but his goal scoring ability definitely is!
4.03 Juliet (Ultimate): A veteran on the team, her experience, athleticism, and deep knowledge of the game will propel her to another successful ultimate season, and a great option for fantasy managers.
4.04 Gabby (Tennis): This girl’s freshman player is primed to start her Lincoln tennis career with a bang, dominating opponents in singles.
5.01 Jacob (Lacrosse): Known as “Big Red”, Jacob is a fantastic scorer, and integral part of the team. Despite his size, he manages to be incredibly quick, while still being able to use his body against his opponents.
5.02 Kaj (Track): Acclaimed as a Lincoln cross-country star, Kaj was bound to make this list for track as well. The mile and 2 mile is where he shines, since he can outlast most of his track opponents.
5.03 Coby (Track and Field): The school record holder in the triple jump with three state and four district appearances, Coby will continue his successful stretch of state appearances into the coming year in both triple jump and sprint relays.
