Cuando eres un estudiante latina recién llegan a Lincoln todo es nuevo y confuso al mismo tiempo, muchas veces los estudiantes latinos deben trabajar y estudiar, ahora podremos ver un poco sobre la vida de una estudiante latina que nos cuenta como fue para ella llegar a estudiar en una escuela donde hablan un idioma diferente.

Clara, es una estudiante de 18 años que llegó a USA hace 1 año, estudiaba en una escuela donde hablaban español y en la que solo estuvo unos meses, cuándo fue transferida a Lincoln. Sabremos un poco de como la está pasando ahora en Lincoln.

´´Cuando llegué a los Estados Unidos todo era increíble, me encantaba la comunidad, la ciudad, el estilo de vida aquí era algo a lo que me adapté muy rápido, lo único que encontré un poco complicado fue el idioma.

En la escuela en la que estuve cuando recién llegué realmente me era más cómoda, hablaban español así que fue muy fácil adaptarme, entender y hacer amigos allí. Cuando me cambié a Lincoln todo me gustó, todos me hicieron sentir cómoda desde el primer día, los maestros me han ayudado demasiado a sentirme cómoda y a entender las materias de clase. Pero mi mayor desafío hasta ahora ha sido el mismo desde que llegué, aprender inglés.

A veces, algunos de mis compañeros de clase se molestan porque a veces pregunto demasiado cuando no entiendo algo, entiendo su molestia y espero que puedan entenderme, sé que mejoraré. Mi parte favorita es la hora del lunch, me encanta por que puedo tener un pequeño descanso y la comida me gusta, en especial la fruta, no me gusta tener que pagarlo, pero está bien. Me encantaría tener más amigos, soy divertida, aunque no lo parezca jaja.

Estudio mucho cada día para aprender más el idioma, no me gusta incomodar a mis compañeros cuando en ocasiones no puedo entender algo y el profesor tiene que explicarme, siento que eso retrasa y molesta a mis compañeros, todos son muy amables, pero entiendo que sea un poco molesto. Sigo aprendiendo el idioma día a día, pero es algo que lleva tiempo, no es fácil para mi aprender un idioma entero en tan poco tiempo, con tantas cosas dentro y fuera de la escuela es un poco complicado, pero sé que lo aprenderé. Espero que Lincoln me siga teniendo paciencia´´

“When I arrived in the United States, everything was amazing. I loved the community and the city, and the lifestyle here was something I adapted to very quickly. The only thing I found a little complicated was the language.

In the school I was where when I first arrived it was really more comfortable: they spoke Spanish so it was very easy to adapt, understand and make friends there. When I switched to Lincoln I liked everything. They made me feel comfortable from day one, and the teachers have helped me too much to feel comfortable and understand the class subjects. But my biggest challenge so far has been the same since I arrived, learning English.

Sometimes some of my classmates get upset because sometimes I ask too much when I don’t understand something. I understand their annoyance and I hope they can understand me, I know I’ll get better. My favorite part is lunchtime, I love it because I can have a little break and I like the food, especially fruit. I don’t like having to pay for it, but that’s okay. I’d love to have more friends, I’m funny, even if it doesn’t seem like it haha.

I study a lot every day to learn more English. I do not like to bother my classmates; when sometimes I can not understand something and the teacher has to explain it to me, I feel that it delays and bothers my classmates. Everyone is very friendly, but I understand that it is a bit annoying. I keep learning the language day by day, but it’s something that takes time. It’s not easy for me to learn an entire language in such a short time, with so many things in and out of school it’s a bit complicated, but I know I’ll learn it. I hope Lincoln continues to be patient with me”.
