Lynx On the Slopes

With winter and snow on the forecast, Lincoln students and staff are preparing for the skiing and snowboarding season.

We asked around to hear Lincoln’s opinion on a common debate: Skiing vs snowboarding.

Riley Nations is a 10th grader at Lincoln and said, “I like snowboarding better because I have done it my whole life.” He also reported that he usually snowboards in Montana at a resort called Whitefish.

While interviewing, we learned that people like to ski and snowboard all over Washington and in other states. For example, Keshav Vasudeva, another 10th grader Lincoln, said he usually skis at Crystal Mountain, a popular resort in Pierce County.

Another good place to ski is the Summit at Snoqualmie. One advantage of going here is it is one of the most accessible options since it is only an hour long drive from Lincoln. Because of this, many people seeking to buy season passes end up getting the Snoqualmie pass.

It is the most common pass among Lincoln students, and it gives you access to Snoqualmie East, West, and Central, as well as Alpental. Another good option is the Ikon Pass. The Ikon Pass gives you access to everything the Snoqualmie pass does, in addition to benefits at resorts all over the world in places like Japan, Europe, and many more.

This winter, we expect to see plenty of Lynx up on the slopes. No matter how or where you spend your time this winter, stay safe and have fun!
