Class of 1999: Explosions, Flame Throwers, and Motorcycles Inside Lincoln

Class of 1999 might be the craziest movie I’ve ever seen. The writing is terrible, and the acting is not the greatest. However, between the “futuristic” outfits and cars, explosions every three minutes, and the film being set in a dystopian Lincoln High School, this movie is an incredibly entertaining watch.

In the film, the area surrounding Lincoln (in the film it’s renamed Kennedy High School) has turned into a lawless “Free Fire Zone” controlled by gangs. To crack down on gang violence in the school, the principal of Kennedy High School partners with a robotics company to bring in three robot teachers. Unfortunately, the robot teachers go a little too far and just start killing students who break rules. And so it’s up to the heroic Cody Culp (wow, what a name) to unite the two gangs and take back the school!

Did I mention it’s set at Lincoln? As you watch the movie, you’ll quickly recognize locations. The police brutality in the staff parking lot, gang members riding motorcycles up and down the main staircases, driving a school bus through the historical entrance, and the entire front façade of Lincoln exploding. And that’s just what’s at Lincoln. In this movie, all of Wallingford is a warzone.

It is worth noting this movie is rated R, and the movie is filled with gun violence and flame throwers and killer robot teachers inside Lincoln High School. There’s a decent amount of gore, use of a made-up drug called “Edge,” and in one scene Cody Culp stops a sexual assault.

But if you’re prepared for all of that, strap in for an insane movie experience, and get ready to see the building you know and love from a totally different angle.
