Coming up this winter, we asked some of the girls basketball players what they think about the upcoming season. This has been a year of change for the team, and they will now be led by a new head coach, Eli Yim. In addition to this change, the team has transitioned from the 3A Metro League division into the 4A Metro League division.
We asked senior Devon Nobil how she felt about this transition to the new division, to which she responded, “I’m really excited and think we can be super successful in our division.”
Lucia Billish (10) said she was most looking forward to, “Quad nights.” These are nights where both the girls and boys JV and Varsity teams play.
If you’re interested in getting involved with basketball this season, but don’t want to wait until winter tryouts, check out Fall Ball. Fall Ball consists of fun, no-cut practices and tournaments that are open to everyone. Natalie Kelly (11) is a 2-year varsity player who has been doing Fall Ball in-between seasons, “I think it’s been really good to get out and play especially with hard competition and just get to know each other with all the new players and just prepare for the season since we’re in upper metro this year and we’re going to have tough competition.”
We asked player Olivia Kane (11), what her expectations for the upcoming season are and she responded by saying, “I’m really excited for the upcoming season, we’ve got a lot of really talented players.”
With this increase in competition for the upcoming season, support from fans at the games is going to be more important than ever. We checked in with two fans, Eli Wasserman (11) and William Laprade (11) to see how they plan on supporting the girls basketball team this season. “I’m going to come to every game and cheer really loud and support the girls basketball team,” said Laprade.
Wasserman added, “Gotta show school spirit, just be there for our team, support, give them all the support they need to take on this season, get the dubs.” So make sure to show up to all of their games this season and cheer on your Lincoln Girls Basketball team!
