Every year, Lincoln High Schools hallways and classrooms turn into a place where students showcaseexhibitions of their learning. The event highlights projects that every student has worked on throughout the year. It creates a fun atmosphere where everyone walks around, checks out different projects, and see what their classmates have been working on.
This event is mostly student led due to the fact that everyone gets to choose how they want to showcase their projects. Students decide what they want to present and how they want to present it, which makes each display feel different. It also gives a chance to be creative and show their work in a way that fits their style, so no two projects end up looking the same.
When you walk around, you will see posters taped to walls, trifold boards everywhere, and groups of students explaining their projects while their friends stop to check out their work. Exhibitions allow the whole school to get involved in learning about all classes, even if you don’t take them.
Many of the students who present at Exhibitions feel as though the experience can be both fun but also a little stressful. Sophomore Orion Kelly Kirchoff said “the best part was getting to hang out with friends before summer, but presenting can be very nerve racking”. This is a feeling that many students can relate to as they prepare to present their work.
This year, the students involved in planning say there is a lot happening behind the scenes to make the event run smoothly. Leadership students explained that the work is divided into committees, some map out where each project goes, others organize Passion Projects, and additional teams handle things like food options and decorations.
Sophomore Lila De Boer said, “we have different committees and mapping people, passion project organizers, food trucks, decorations”. Their teamwork shapes everything the visitors will see, from the layout of the hallways to the atmosphere when people walk in.
In the end, Exhibitions brings the whole school together from the students planning it to the people presenting. With food trucks like Pink Gorilla, Thai food and a Taco truck being present, this year’s showcase is going to be even more exciting for the Lincoln community.
