If you haven’t already noticed the hype of spirited players and fans around the school, the Lincoln Lacrosse season is upon us. Our girls’ team is on just their 4th season at Lincoln and is crushing it! Joining the team has been more popular now than ever. Our boys’ team is also hard at work; lacrosse is fairly new at Lincoln, but they are working to build a strong reputation. There’s been some anxiety about what the outcome of the boys’ team will be this season due to losing some outstanding seniors, yet these Lynx are determined to deliver another great season. These athletes are unbelievable, and both teams represent the spirit and persistence you can only find at Lincoln! Some players on our boy’s lacrosse team gave the inside scoop on the dynamics of the team. When asked how he stays so motivated, Evan Leising (‘28) said, “The varsity guys have helped me and showed me what I can become.”
Inside and out, this team lifts each other up, and their brother-like relationship maintains the positive mindset that keeps Lynx on top. This team is open to growing and sharing the experience with anyone who wants to, Leo Bissell (’28) even said, “I think it’s probably the most fun sport there is…a good combination of soccer and football. I think everyone should try it out. It’s really fun!”.
While our boys’ team is going steady, our girls’ team is the biggest trend at the moment. With the eruption of fresh players, our girls’ team is more hype than ever. At the start of the season, Mia Marenstein(’28) and Zara Rennison(’28), two members of the girls lacrosse team, excitingly said, “Theres a lot of new people and I think it’s gonna be a really fun team to play with especially for games… everyone’s doing so good on it!” Rennison quickly added, “I think we will all grow together, and through the years we’ll just get better together. Like our teamwork you know?” The girls’ lacrosse team are true athletes inside and out, prioritizing teamwork and positivity, staying humble despite all of their achievements. Both teams are truly superstars, yet being a student athlete is its own game in itself. Between school, sports, and personal life there is no denying how hard it can be. Some players shared some tips that help them stay steady throughout such a busy season. Leising stressed to “definitely stay on top of your schoolwork and keep track of what assignments and tests are coming up, balance your time and use walk to support”. While Bissell and Leising both added that energy drinks help them prepare before long practices, “I usually listen to music, stretch and have an energy drink, Monsters usually”. Marenstein Rennison shared their biggest pregame ritual, blasting pop music with the team to get into the gameday mindset. These are some useful tips, and mentorship is a great time to use to your advantage. Being a student athlete is not easy! These two teams are crushing it this season.
